We missed being together in the State House, but we're excited for us to come together virtually and advocate for the policies and resources that are important to our members and their communities. MACDC's policy agenda in 2021 will address both the immediate needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis, as well as the long-term structural issues in our economy in our economy that have been our focus for years.

After the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor in the spring of 2020, a national and global uprising and fight towards racial justice, equity and peace was reignited. As a response to the collective action, many Massachusetts based Community Development Corporations expressed the necessity of increasing and strengthening their commitment to racial equity work.

Chuck's contributions to the Community Development field's birth and growth over the past nearly 50 years represent a legacy that will be remembered for a long time. It was Mel King who was the state representative that led the campaign to create the state’s community development infrastructure in the 1970s.
