Judy Kelliher, MACDC’s long-standing lobbyist and legislative consultant, passed away suddenly in July 2009, the day the Senate unanimously passed the Expiring Use bill, which eventually became law in November 2009. Judy had been with MACDC for more than 17 years – longer than anyone else has ever served this organization and played a significant role in every single major state legislative achievement that MACDC won over those years. CEED funding, bond bills, the insurance community investment act, brownfields, small business funding, foreclosure legislation – on all these issues and more Judy was there in the State House, often late at night, representing MACDC, our members and the people in our communities. The community development community owes Judy much gratitude. She left us too soon.
